NEXUS AT OXFORD RIVERSIDE GALLERY

What is collective intelligence?  It is a form of universally distributed intelligence, constantly enhanced, coordinated in real time, and resulting in the effective mobilization of skills…the basis and goal of collective intelligence is the mutual recognition and enrichment of individuals.
(Pierre Levy, ‘Collective Intelligence - Mankind's Emerging World in Cyberspace’, 1997)

The digital prints you see on display at the Oxford Riverside Gallery are a portal to the art events held online over the past few months.  In each of these 'Nexus' experiments I explored the idea of a Collective Intelligence emerging around the creative act.  Digital 'paintings' mediated the interactions of the groups that met online.  Whilst the 'relational aesthetic' of the work could only be appreciated by the participants in those collective intelligence art (CI-Art) events,  I hope you find interesting the following video recordings and animations of those events.
